Pitsco Impulse G3 Dragster Racing System

The Pitsco 38023 Impulse G3 Race System provides electronic controls, a starting gate, and a finish gate for safely and consistently launching carbon-dioxide (CO2) dragsters and other race cars for students in grades 6-12 studying the scientific concepts of aerodynamics, motion, drag, and friction. The Impulse G3's start gate uses Christmas-tree lights programmed in a random sequence to signal the vehicle launch, and it also displays the recorded race time for each vehicle raced. The finish gate accurately records race times to the nearest 0.001 second.

The Impulse G3 includes two launch modes, Auto and Manual, for a variety of race activities. Auto Launch Mode allows students to launch the cars simultaneously with the press of a single button. Manual Launch Mode allows students to launch their cars independently by using two remote thumb triggers. The Manual mode reports the reaction time at the start of a race as well as the finish time. The launch pods have an adjustable vertical range that accommodates almost any CO2 car for racing a broad range of dragster designs.

Both the start and finish gate are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for durability. The start gate measures 17 x 18 x 12 inches (H x W x D) and the finish gate measures 13 x 18 x 12 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) The Impulse G3 comes with a control box, a 12V power supply, a start mat, floor anchors, deceleration towels, additional hardware, and instructions. A race system is typically used in an educational setting to record race times of CO2 and other model racing vehicles.

Assembly requires a screwdriver (sold separately). Floor racing requires duct tape (sold separately). The Impulse G3 can be mounted on the Pitsco 37989 FasTrak Elevated Racetrack (sold separately).

Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology.

Pitsco Education develops K-12 science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum, educational kits, and classroom tools. The company, founded in 1971, is headquartered in Pittsburg, KS.
